INTERESTING INFO

Welcome to our Interesting Info section here we’ll feature random tidbits, factoids, and news from the wonderful word of sextoys.

WHAT'S A PHTHALATE ANYWAY?

Phthalates (pronounced "thal-eights") are chemical softeners added to PVC toys to make them less rigid. The problem with these chemicals is that they can be toxic at certain quantities, and there is no regulatory body to monitor safe levels or appropriate exposure time with these products.

MASTURBATION IS A WONDERFUL THING!

Did you know if you do it slowly and take mental notes, you'll learn more about your sexual responses? Recent studies have also connected ejaculation with lower rates of prostate cancer, and women's orgasms with healthy vaginal pH balance, which can lead to fewer yeast infections. These are just a couple of the many reasons why masturbation is great - so lube it, love it, linger on it for awhile, and feel how wonderful your body can feel!

KEGELS- THE LOWDOWN

Kegels are a name that’s used to describe the exercising and strengthening of the muscles on the pelvic floor in both women and men. The exercise revolves around the contraction and relaxation of the muscles on the pelvic floor. It’s often explained as engaging the muscles you would use if you were trying to stop the flow of pee.

In women the benefits are numerous. Well-toned pubococcygeus (PC) muscles can prevent incontinence, are great post-natal, increase orgasmic potential, and we’ve even read reports that they can act as a preventative against cervical cancer. The reason being as with any well-toned muscle when you provide blood flow and oxygen to it the muscle stands to benefit. We do carry Smartballs in stock, which are great for helping exercise the female pelvic floor.

In men practicing kegels has been reported to provide stronger erections, and allows you go have more control over ejaculation, while providing an increase to both bowel and bladder function.

THE G-SPOT MAP

The G-spot can be found about two thirds up the length of your middle finger on the anterior (aka front wall) of the vagina. It should feel somewhat spongy, and approximately the size of walnut when stimulated. Some women may have trouble finding it by themselves, usually because their fingers are too short and the ergonomics aren't quite right. Some of the toys in our g-spot section are great for this type of stimulation. One other fun trick we'll pass along in the world of g-spot play is when your going down on your partner lube a finger or two (make sure your nails are trimmed, and hands are clean), and insert them into the vagina crooked slightly in a "come hither" position. Here you should be able to feel the swollen spongy tissue that is the g-spot. If you can't feel it try pushing down gently on the mons to help bring it down lower. While all this is going on make sure to pay special attention to the "clit". Enjoy!!

WHAT’S THIS I HEAR ABOUT A P-SPOT?

The P-spot or the prostate is a sexual organ found in men. This organ produces prostatic fluid, which makes up about one third of male ejaculate. Its location also ties into neural pathways that run between the penis and the brain. With a highway of nerves running by it’s little wonder that many men have orgasms just from prostate stimulation alone. In men the prostate corresponds to the g-spot in females. Both of these organs are part of the same pelvic nerve system.

Next time you’re alone or with a partner try a little exploration. First wait until you’re highly aroused and lubricate a finger or a toy. Once you’re about 2” to 3” inside the rectum you’ll want to stroke and put pressure towards the front of the body. The prostate will feel about the size of a walnut and will enlarge during arousal. Response can range from extreme pleasure to mild irritation, but it’s yours to explore. With those tidbits in mind grab some lube and take a ride on the wild party that is your body! If you’re interested in a toy try the Element.
