Choosing Your Lubricant

Lubes exist to reduce friction and increase pleasure. They can be used during intercourse, masturbation, and with sex toys. It’s also a good idea to use with condoms to reduce the risk of breakage, and with any sort of anal play. Having fun with lube can give touch and pressure completely new parameters.

  1. Water Based Lubes- These make up the majority of lubes on the market. They’re absorbed into the body easily. They won’t stain your sheets or harm your toys. They do however dry up, and some leave a sticky residue. Both Hathor and Slippery Stuff leave no stick behind.
  2. Silicone Based Lubes- The nice thing with silicone lubes is that they stay slippery for an extremely long time, and can even be used in water. They’re also said to be hypoallergenic because the skin does not absorb it. These lubes can’t be used with silicone toys, and lower-grade brands may stain your sheets, or damage latex. We choose to carry Eros due its high quality.
  3. Oil Based Lubes- Ultimately the only good thing oil based lubes are good for when it comes to sex is male masturbation. They aren’t good for partner sex because the body doesn’t flush them out very well, and you’re more prone to bacteria buildup and risk of site infections. Mixing them with condoms doesn’t work well, because it melts the latex. The other downside is you may stain your nice sheets, which is no fun either. For all of those reasons Trinity Romance Shop doesn’t carry oil based lubes.
